A Japanese Documentary Movie: The Universal Principle

Ms.Katsuko Yamamoto, affectionately called Kakko chan, is a multi-talented lady playing a role of a teacher, writer, wife and mother. She has been determined to find out about life.

Ever since she was a young child, she has been wondering why things go just right.

Why do flowers blossom at the same time in Spring?

How does a chrysalis turn into a butterfly?

Why does rain fall? Why..? Why..? Why..?

As she was seeking the answers for these mysteries she started realising the promise which lies underneath of everything.

She turned her thought into a poem.
The poem is called 'The promise of the universe', a translation of Hannyashinkyo (a kind of Buddhist chanting)

This poem reminds us the important thing which we have almost forgotten.

This documentary is based on the interview of Kakko chan.
Following “the Miracle of the Gifted Quarter”, it goes down to the heart of the mystery of the universe.

What does it meat to live?
What does it mean to die?
