Tao’s Restaurant

The Menu Brings the Joy of Choosing

There is a restaurant in the suburb of Melbourne, which attracts people no end. It is the restaurant “Tao’s” where dinner reservations are fully booked every day. I tried to find the source of this charm.

With a modern Japanese concept, a variety of dishes fuse factors from Italian or French here and there, and the appearances are dedicated pleasing the eye with their details. The menu contains “only course” which demonstrate Tao’s confidence. The prices are set reasonably at 38 dollars (6 dishes) for lunch and at 50 dollars (7 dishes) for dinner, but all the dishes are of higher value than their price.

The following is the course structure.
•Starter
•Entrée (selection)
•Tao’s Special Chawa-Mushi (only available for dinner)
•Soup (selection)
•Main (selection)
•Rice of the day
•Dessert (selection)

You can choose a selection of dishes from a menu of 5-8 choices. Each course is created by choosing what you like on your own. You will have fun selecting dishes, and it is a real joy to choose different dishes with a large group of people.

Dignity of Japanese Cuisine and Gaiety of French Cuisine

At Tao’s Restaurant, the owner Jack exhibits a most outstanding presence. The entire interior reflects Jack’s choices and designs. He was, for example, particular even about the choice of materials for tables, and he imported them from Taiwan. This is Tao’s living concept.

Tao’s dishes represent Jack’s ideals. The Ideas of food arrangements which are initiated by him alone are instructed to the kitchen staff. Respect for Japanese cuisine can be strongly sensed there, filled with factors inspired by his studies of cuisines from various countries.

“We provide fusion cuisine assimilated from Japanese, Chinese and western cuisines at Tao’s. With a style of selecting from various menus, customers can have a good time. We offer dishes inspired by Japanese dishes as well as dishes integrating food arrangements from French cuisines while striving for creative cuisines.”

Team Tao’s

Tao’s dishes are created as a team. A new menu has been created and reviewed every day after the restaurant closes since the restaurant’s opening. Although daily management of the restaurant is busy, the restaurant has been created as team “Tao’s” through communications with the kitchen staff and hall staff. The hall staff’s attitudes demonstrate their awareness of the restaurant’s theory.

Jack says, “Females may be quite receptive to this”. He shows confidence that the freshness of Kirin Megumi goes well with the entire menu at Tao’s. He made the following suggestions, which should match in particular.

Chicken cooked in an oven for 20 minutes and then covered with Tao’s original sauce of sesame seeds. The result of a match between spicy chicken and the sweetness of sesame seeds is a superb taste. Inspired by Korean cuisines, sliced chilli accompanies the dish.

This is an arranged teapot style bonito. The soup is cooked with fish bones and seaweed (konbu) for 8 hours, creating an outstanding taste. You can enjoy the flagrance as well as its fresh taste.

Tender lamb meet served and eaten with mint sauce. This dish has a high reputation at the restaurant.

This is one of Tao’s homemade desserts. The smooth texture is a perfect match for end of the course. The dessert’s reasonable amount is another delightful point.

Tao’s, which was opened five years ago, is Jack’s first step. His plan is to open restaurants in other states in the future, but he would like to make Tao’s restaurant a success at first. He intends to concentrate on Tao’s for the time being with bigger dreams for the future.

According to Jack, “we would like customers to come with smiles on their faces and taste our food with joy.” Jack is full of confidence offering an original menu, which cannot be found anywhere else. The great attention paid to taste and arrangement of dishes as well as the details of the interior can only be found at Tao’s, and Tao’s passion certainly radiates from dishes delivered to customers.
