Opening Night in Shepparton – the golden age of Japanese colour prints

Opening night – at last. It had been years since Kirsten Paisley’s visit to a Japanese sister city to see an internationally acclaimed exhibition of woodblock prints. An intervening national disaster – the 2011 earthquake – set its fate. It was headed for the Goulburn Valley, and on the way the curator from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston had even stayed in the cargo-hold with the pieces.

KIZUNA Project 2012

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan offered the opportunity for Australian and New Zealand students to travel to Japan for 10 days, 9th December to 18th of December 2012, in order to experience Japan’s current situation and its culture. The project was introduced as part of the recovery plan of Japan after the 2011 earthquake disaster.

This is the travelogue by Brett Ong, one of the participants from Melbourne.
