Melbourne Aces pitcher signed to Tokyo Giants

Melbourne Aces pitcher Adam Bright has been signed to play for the Yomiyuri Giants in Tokyo this coming season, General Manager Windsor Knox announced today.

"We are very excited Adam has this opportunity to further his career," Knox said. "He’s a fine player who has a lot to offer as a pitcher with our Japanese partner club, the Tokyo Giants.”

Left-hander Adam Bright has been a regular on the professional circuit since signing with the Colorado Rockies in the MLB as a teenager in 2002. His career highlights include being selected to the AA Texas League All Star game and representing Australia in the national team.

Bright will depart for Tokyo towards the end of January, and is looking forward to being reunited there with his six Giants team mates who’ve been playing for the Aces this year.

Melbourne Aces Manager, Phil Dale agrees that the team has had a fantastic first half to the season and says the squad will miss Bright’s energy and enthusiasm.

“Adam’s contribution to the team up to this point has been outstanding and all the hard work he has put in has got noticed by the Giants organisation,” Dale said. “Hopefully this has opened the doors for many other Melbourne baseball players in future years to join Japanese pro baseball as well as MLB.

Melburnian’s now have a final chance to see Adam’s talents on display at the Aces at the two January home series in January before he has to head over to Japan for spring training.
