Stairs Hair Salon

“Permanent hair straightening" is something I've heard of before, but what exactly is it?
To find out more I asked Sayuri, the owner of STAIRS (a Japanese run hair salon).

Simply put, permanent hair straightening is when we make frizzy hair naturally straight.

―――Who would you recommend this treatment for?

People who are tired of unmanageable hair
People who have varying degrees of thickness through their hair
People whose hair tends to frizz out
People who want long lustrous hair

I’ve been living in Australia for close to 20 years and I think for those that are seeking the asian beauty often referred to by Japanese, lustrous hair and skin are important. The sense of lustre and feel of the hair certainly changes after the permanent hair straightening treatment.

―――Is there any kind of characteristic or signature that is exclusive to STAIRS?

As a pre-treatment, we enrich the hair with protein to protect the cuticles, which takes time. To minimise damage to the hair, we emphasise the importance of the pre-treatment. We also choose products for hair straightening that match the customer’s hair type from a range of products tailored to suit the existing hair damage. All of our products are ordered from Japan.

―――And you also place a lot of emphasis into your counselling, don't you?

Customers who want perfectly straight hair, also want that gloss to go with it. But there are also customers who want a straight hair style that has a slight softer edge. Even for a style that's straight at the roots, but has curls at the ends from a digital perm, it's possible to still use the same products.

Visiting this salon I learnt more hair tips than I could possibly write about. Like how to blow dry hair without peeling the cuticles, and how to use a hair dryer to reduce the frizz in unruly hair, are just a couple of examples. As you’d expect it’s different when you learn it from a pro. They say your hairstyle is a picture frame, and from now on thanks to the stylists at STAIRS I’ll be taking better care of mine.

Mental note
<Lustrous hair and skin is a must for women>

Something else that grabbed my attention the day I went to STAIRS, was the mountain of the latest fashion magazines from Japan.

Here you can get all the latest information about Japan’s fashion scene.

So be sure to drop in and check out STAIRS, it’s bound help you find the fashion enthusiast inside you.
